NDA or National Defence Academy exam is a national level exam organised by UPSC (union public service commission ) to recruit candidates in Army ,Navy and Air Force.
- It is two -tier examination where in , candidates qualifying the written test will also have to clear the SSB interview round.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
These are the eligibility criteria to take NDA exam
1) NATIONALITY -
A candidate must be either
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Bhutan , or
- A subject of Nepal , or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India ., Or
- A person of India origin who has migrated from Pakistan , Burma , Sri Lanka and East African countries of kenya , Uganda , the united republic of Tanzania , Zambia , Malawi, Zaire and Etilhiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

2) AGE LIMIT , SEX AND MARITAL STATUS-
A candidate must be an unmarried male and must have attained the age of 16 1/2 years and must not have attained the age of 19 years on the 1st january or 1st of July of the year succeeding the year of examination.
READ :SSB INTERVIEW PROCEDURES
Candidate must not marry until they complete their full training.
A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful will not be selected for training.
A candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the government.
3)EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- For an Army wing of National Defence Academy, class12th pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a state Education Board or a university.
- For Air force and Naval wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 course at the Naval Academy. Class12th pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent with physics and mathematics conducted by a state Education Board or university.
There are two papers in the exam.
Paper 1 ( MATHEMATICS)
- Number Algebra-
Concept of set, operation of sets, Venn diagram,De- Morgan laws, Cartesian product, relation, Representation of real numbers on a line number in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa , harmonic progression , Quadratic equations with real coefficient, solution of linear inequalities , Binomial theorem and Permutation and combination.
2)Matrices and Determinant
Types of matrices ,operations on matrices determinant of a matrix , basic properties of determinant, square matrix , Application of determinant ,solution of linear equations.
3)TRIGONOMETRY
Angles and their measures in degrees and in radians, Trigonometrically ratios, Trigonometric identities ,sum and difference formulae, inverse trigonometric functions , application--height and distance , properties of triangles.
4) DIFFERENTIAL CALCULUS
Concept of a real valued function -domain, range and graph of a function , composite functions , one to one , onto and inverse functions .
5)INTEGRAL CALCULUS AND DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
Integration as inverse of differentiation , integration by substitution and by parts,area of plane regions bounded by curves.
General and particular solution of a differential equations, solution of first order and first degree differential equations.
6)VECTOR ALGEBRA
Vector in two and three dimensions,magnitude and direction of a vector ,unit and null vectors, addition of vectors, scalar or dot product, vector or cross product of two vectors.
7)STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY
Classification of data,frequency distribution,cumula cumulative frequency distribution, pie chart, Bayes theorem,mutuall exclusive and exhaustive events.

SECTION A PHYSICS
Physical properties and States of matter . Mass weight , volume ,density and specific gravity,principle of Archimedes,pressure and barometer.
Difference between the living and non-living .
Basis of life cells ,protoplasm and tissues .
Growth and reproductive in plants and animals.
Achievements of eminent scientists
SECTION B CHEMISTRY
Physical and chemical changes ,elements ,mixtures,and compounds.Law of chemical combinations,properties of air and water.
CARBON: Different forms.
FERTILIZERS: Natural and artificial.
Elementary ideas about the structure of atom . Atomic equivalent and molecular weights ,valency.
SECTION C GENERAL SCIENCE
Basis of life cells ,protoplasm and tissues .
Growth and reproductive in plants and animals.
Achievements of eminent scientists
SECTION D HISTORY, FREEDOM MOVEMENT
- FREEDOM MOVEMENT IN INDIA
Elements study of Indian constitution
2. Elementary knowledge of five year plans in India panchayati Raj, cooperatives and community.
SECTION F GEOGRAPHY
The Earth : its shape and size,latitudes and longitudes.
Weathering: Mechanical and chemical.
Atmosphere and it's composition: Temperature and atmospheric pressure .
Regional geography of India: Climate ,natural vegetation.
Important sea port and main sea, land and Air routes .Main items of imports and exports of India.
SECTION E CURRENT AFFAIRS
Knowledge of important events that happened in India in the recent years. Current important world events.
